About

Llandegfedd Lake is just 20 miles from the Welsh capital of Cardiff and spans the beautiful, rolling landscaped countryside of Monmouthshire and Torfaen. This stunning visitor attraction is owned and cared for by Welsh Water for your enjoyment. With over 400 acres of water, woodlands & grasslands to explore, you can experience every type of benefit that being close to water has to offer.

VISITOR CENTRE
Pop in to pick up a leaflet with a map of our walking trails or chat to our friendly staff to get advice on things to see and do during your visit. This is where you book mini golf and collect your clubs or buy a fishing permit if you haven’t already done so online. You can also find out more about winter bird watching permits. Our Visitor Centre is fully accessible and disabled parking spaces can be found just outside.

LAKESIDE CAFE & GRAB & GO COFFEE SHOP
The waterside restaurant, with unrivalled panoramic views of the lake, offers a variety of freshly prepared food including hearty breakfasts, daily specials and popular favourites. All tastes are catered for with vegan and gluten free options. If you fancy a treat why not book in advance for a leisurely Afternoon Tea?

A truly dog-friendly attraction where four legged friends are most welcome to enjoy a good walk before taking a ‘paws’ on the restaurant balcony or in the downstairs Grab & Go Coffee Shop.

WATERSPORTS CENTRE
The Watersports Centre offers sailing experiences for adults, children and organised groups. Land and water based activities on offer include windsurfing, dinghy sailing, stand-up paddle boarding, canoeing, kayaking and raft building – all with equipment hire (March to October).

FISHING AT LLANDEGFEDD LAKE
The lake is heavily stocked, with bank and boat fishing available for rainbow and brown trout. It is also a popular venue for angling competitions. Permitted methods are fly-fishing and ledgered worm from the bank fishing areas and fly-fishing only from the boats. Fishing permits are available to book online or from our Grab & Go café on the ground floor of the Visitor Centre. Llandegfedd holds the UK Pike record of 46lb 13oz (that’s a whopper!).

WALKING AT LLANDEGFEDD
Get closer to nature by exploring one of our footpaths and way-marked walks, ideal for kids to play in, climb through and explore. Choose your own path from a gentle stroll through the fields to a brisk 6 mile hike around the lake and surrounding area.
